MICROCHIPPING
Microchipping of horses is a quick and easy procedure, and only costs $35!
Microchipping

There are several reasons why you might microchip your horse:
-
To meet breed registry requirements.
-
Some breed registries like the Jockey Club (Thoroughbreds) and Andalusians require microchipping.
-
Often the breed registry will provide the microchip if it is required for registration.
-
-
To meet USEF requirements for competing in hunter, jumper, and equitation classes.
-
Effective December 1st, 2019, horses must be microchipped to compete in these classes.
-
-
To provide a positive form of identification in case a horse is lost or stolen.
-
Microchips made it possible to return displaced horses in Louisiana to their owners after Hurricane Katrina.
